Mother Aetolia is a symbolic personification of Aetolia-Acarnania, bringing the human figure and the natural landscape together as expressions of a shared identity. The female figure assumes a monumental presence, carrying symbols deeply rooted in the region: the olive wreath evokes the land and its enduring character, while the tobacco leaves held in her hands recall an important part of the area’s history and collective memory.

In the background, water, mountains and the olive tree form a landscape that is more than a setting; it becomes an extension of the figure herself. Past and present, nature and humanity, memory and identity converge in an image that approaches Aetolia not simply as a geographical place, but as a living cultural inheritance.

The artwork was presented at the 4th Panhellenic Cultural Forum in Aigio in 2026, where Mariza Ntzala received an honorary distinction for her artistic presence and contribution to culture through art.
